DESCRIPTION:Course Description:\n\nThis course provides intensive training and certification on the fundamentals of concrete. Since 1964\, several thousand course attendees have attained NRMCA certification.  Course content includes fundamentals of concrete and its ingredient materials\, ACI and ASTM standards as well as basic principles for concrete\, aggregate tests\, and calculations leading to mixture proportion and batch adjustments.  One year experience in the concrete industry is recommended but not required. \n\n \n\nTopics Include:\n\nFundamentals of Concrete\, Ready Mixed Concrete & ASTM C94\, Cement\, Fly Ash\, Slag & Silica Fume\, Aggregates\, Chemical Admixtures\, Statistical Methods\, ACI Code & Specification\, Testing Hardened Concrete\, Concreting in Extreme Weather\, Managing Returned Concrete\, Quality Control Procedures\, Innovative Concrete Applications\, Handling\, Placing & Finishing. \n\n \n\nAgenda:\n\nFeb. 6 - 9am - 5pm\n\n-NRMCA Level 2 Concrete Technologist Classroom with Lunch Break from 12-1pm\, lunch provided. \n\n\n\nFeb. 7 & 8 - 8am - 5pm\n\n-NRMCA Level 2 Concrete Technologist Classroom with Lunch Break from 12-1pm\, on your own.\n\n-NCDOT Batch Portion (Feb. 8th)\n\n\n\nFeb. 9\n\n-8:30am - 10:00am - NRMCA Level 2 Concrete Technologist Certification Exam\n\n-10:15am - 12:15pm - Optional NCDOT Batch Certification Exam (requires additional $100 fee)\n\n\n\nUpon Completion of the course training\, attendees may test for the following:\n\n \n\nNRMCA CERTIFIED CONCRETE TECHNOLOGIST\, LEVEL 2\n\nThe applicant must pass a 1 -hour examination consisting of questions on concrete materials and production practices plus basic mixture proportioning methods and data evaluation procedures. An exam score of at least 75% is required to receive certification. Approximately 60% of those who take the exam pass. NRMCA Level 2 certification expires five years from the date of the exam. See policy for those who obtained certification prior to 2000.  ACI Field Level 1 is a prerequisite for taking the NRMCA Level 2 exam - proof of current ACI certification will be required at check-in.  NRMCA Level 2 certifications will not be mailed/provided until proof of ACI certification is presented. To be eligible to take the NCDOT Batch Certification Exam\, the examinee must be an ACI Grade 1 Field Testing Technician (Note:  The ACI certification does not need to remain current after exam has been passed as long as the batch certification doesn't lapse.  Examinee must present ACI card at time of exam).  An additional fee of $100 will be required to sit for the NCDOT Batch Exam.   Once course has been attended and NRMCA Level 2 Exam and NCDOT Batch Exam have been passed then individual will be an NCDOT Certified Mix Design Technician.\n\n\n\nApplicant Qualifications:\n\nThis course covers a significant amount of technical material in 3 days\, including basic mathematical and statistical calculations (for a quick quiz to test your math skills\, click here). Persons attempting the exam on Friday will be responsible for grasping this information. It is the responsibility of the registrant and his/her manager to ensure that the attendee has the requisite qualifications and level of education to attend the course.\n\n\n\nRegistrants will receive a pre-course study package before the course if registered before January 10\, 2018.
