NRMCA Pervious Concrete Technician Certification Class - October 4, 2023
The CRMCA is pleased to offer the NRMCA
Pervious Concrete Technician Certification Class
The industry standards for pervious concrete are found in the documents published by the American Concrete Institute (ACI):
- 522R - "Report on Pervious Concrete", and
- 522.1 - "Specification for Pervious Concrete Pavement"
Both of these documents provide guidance, direction and criteria for design and construction of pervious concrete mixtures, pavements, infiltration systems and construction practices. Also included in the Specification are criteria that contractors and testing technicians must meet. These requirements are:
- For contractors, according to ACI 522.1 - "The Contractor shall employ no less than one NRMCA Certified Pervious Concrete Craftsman who must be on site, overseeing each placement crew during all concrete placement, or the Contractor shall employ no less than three NRMCA Certified Pervious Concrete Installers, who shall be on site working as members of each placement crew during all concrete placement unless otherwise specified."
- For testing technicians, according to ACI 522.1 - "Field tests of concrete shall be performed by an individual certified as both an NRMCA Certified Pervious Concrete Technician or equivalent and an ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician-Grade 1 or equivalent."
The NRMCA Pervious Concrete Technician Certification is a required step in becoming a NRMCA Pervious Concrete Certified Installer. Note this Class is for the Technician Certification level only. Contractors are encouraged to further pursue performing the necessary requirements to become a Certified Installer. Contact CRMCA for additional information.
